After a hectic year with my business and busy life, I always go for a long vacation through train travel around India. My friends always say that am a born culture/history lover who always found happiness in exploring historic places around India. My college holidays were always spent in my maternal grandparents villa and I loved visiting forts and knowing its glorious history in around the village. I wanted to spend my hard earned vacation in the land of Kali ma – Kolkata.
My business never gave me the opportunity to plan my vacation in a leisure phase and hence I decided to book my tickets in one of the first class flights to save time and energy. After I reached Kolkata, I was happy to receive such a kind reception from the hotel staff who took me to one of the luxurious star hotels where I had already booked my rooms. After a few minutes of meditation, I had a quick shower and planned my day’s activities. I decided to visit Marble Palace in Kolkata which has a regal legacy clinging to it. Born in Jaipur, I loved to know about palaces and hence I planned my first visit to this elegant palace.
Knowing the formalities, I already got the permission from Kolkata tourism for visiting this special monument. A rich merchant who was passionate about arts built this beautiful palace and lived in pride by displaying his artifacts. This is a three-storey building with huge pillars and open courtyards which epitomizes the charm of Bengali tradition. They have a huge collection of royal Victorian furniture, sculptures from the West and valuable painting from various parts of the cities. Since this is still a private residence of the royal family, we were not allowed to click pictures in due respect to their privacy. With a heart full of memories, I headed back to my hotel with a satisfied soul!
